After starting its reign in the Southside of Glasgow in the 1970's by Frixos Georgiades and his family Athena Taverna was revived in 2009 by Frixos' grandson Kevin and his business partner Toni. Two young and enthusiastic restaurateurs who relocated the restaurant to the vibrant Finnieston area in the West End and continue to serve the authentic Greek food loved by so many 'Southsiders' in the original Athena Taverna.
At Athena we pride ourselves on giving our customers an authentic Greek experience. All our recipes have been passed down from Frixo and are freshly prepared by our kitchen team using authentic Greek ingredients. Our front of house staff are all thoroughly trained on the Greek dishes and you can be sure to receive a friendly and efficient service.
